One of the Channel Islands, very close to tip of Northern France. We actually came here last year when we did a British Isles cruise.
Picture perfect tiny island know for the following: a tax haven for the Brits looking to pay no taxes. They mist commit to living here for 3 years. Then their income not taxed, and most don’t leave. Tons of financial businesses and internet companies. Germany occupies this island during the war, perfect vantage point for allied ships to be observed and bombed. Remnants of German Naval signals HQ, underground hospital, and museum all here. This became a very important strategic German stronghold the Brits had to battle for.
Guernsey also know for the book club and Victor Hugo who wrote Les Miserable had a house here and worked here. So that’s about it for our first pot. Using Wifi to get my blog out, even with our own hub getting a signal while on ocean difficult. At sea all day tomorrow so next posts will be in the fabulous wine country Bordeaux. Hope you are all having a lovely Passover and Easter.
