How can we not visit one of my favorite artists. The museum opened in 1963, by Picasso’s childhood friend and in 1935 his personal secretary, Jaume Sabartes . He collaborated with other influential figures in the Barcelona area to set up this museum in and stone palace. Located in the Barri Gotic neighborhood, the old town.
Picasso’s widow donated much of the work, paintings, prints, sculptures, pottery and drawings. This is his early work as a child, young man and older. Picasso was all of 13 when he painted the small canvases. His father was an art teacher and he knew his son was a prodigy at the age of 5.
He had his own style and it is surprising to many that Picasso was a classical trained in art school. He had a foundation in drawing, shape, design. His later works of cubism and abstracts is strongly tied to his early training. The 2nd painting shows his early realistic approach to subject matter.
