I figured my next time back here is slim to never. No big deal my going off without Reid, done this all over the world. Got on the tender just a little rocky, not even 10mins to port of Sorrento. Skys gloomy and cool, threatening rain. I actually was going to get on a ferry to Capri but hesitant due to the weather. The cruise ship does not wait for you, what if I got stuck on Capri? Not such a bad place but decided to be cautious.
As you can see from the pics, charming city, with tons of shopping and yes food. Small streets selling everything a tourist would want.
Sorrento is a jumping off spot for many choices, ferry Capri, train , Naples, Amalfi coast, Pompeii, Mount Vesuvius, Ischia. Sorrento is a peninsula jutting out into the Mediterranean. This little city had always attracted sun lovers, tourists especially from Europe. Not as expensive as Capri and most of the Amalfi coast, hotels and restaurants are reasonable.
Romans were here and actually designed the street layout. Palazzos and crazy traffic running thru the town, it’s Italy what you expect.
