The cupola was designed by Michelangelo which he did not live long enough to finish it. His work is up to the windows. You can climb up to the top but I lost count on how many stars. Built in 1506 it is in the smallest country in the world. It has its own postal system, laws, communication and is home to 800 people. Most work for the church.
The Baldacchino in bronze done by Bernini considered as great a sculptor and architect as Michelangelo. Where ever you look in the Basilica art surrounds you. But there are no paintings because of the high humidity the church removed them and replaced with mosaics. They perfectly match the originals.
